Swift Awareness Week was first held in 2019 with groups around the country holding over 90 events in 2020: celebrating this wonderful bird, bringing attention to its decline and encouraging people to do something about it. 
 
This page is intended to publicise summer events both during and outside Swift Awareness Week 2021. If you wish to promote an event here, then please email Nick Brown

Boxes & Call devices, at a special event in Fletcher Moss Park, Didsbury, Manchester M20 concerning the recognition of Emily Williamson as a key founder of the RSPB (see www.emilywilliamsonstatue.com ).

Sat 3rd July Swifts will feature on Radio Cymru in an interview with Ben Stammers of the NW Wales Wildlife Trust. Details tbc. 
 
Sat 3rd July 19.30 - 21.00 Swift Walk and Talk - Salisbury
Come and see the largest swift nesting colony in Salisbury and observe the spectacular acrobatics of the Swift up close. Learn more about it's life and why it needs our help. Limited to 20 people. Booking via our Facebook page or email from the Contact Us page on our website.
Meet outside Sarum College in the Cathedral Close. A suggested donation of £5 will be collected on the day.

Sat 3 July  Olveston, near Bristol. Olveston Primary School children have made a lovely five-panel display about swifts to hang on the external school wall. It will be on show all week. Swifts nest on the school buildings and the children have been learning all about them.

Sat 3 July – 11 July Edinburgh There are four cycle & two walking routes running throughout SAW that link up swift murals, spots to do a swift survey, swift hubs & swift streets. In collaboration with Wilton Wildlife Group - Spend a Summer's evening strolling around Wilton to watch the town's resident Swifts. Learn more about their incredible lives and how you can help their sad decline. Meet in the Car Park at Castle Meadows where we will hear all about the newly created wildflower and butterfly bank. Sat 9 July 7.30pm  Ilsington, Dartmoor, Devon. Swift meet up & walk starting at the Carpenters Arms Pub TQ13 9RG.  Local enthusiasts will also bring along a range of swift boxes and books.

Sat 10 July 12 to 4pm Horsham St Faith, Norwich NR10 3JJ. The garden of Melbourne Cottage overlooks a colony of 20 Swifts that nest in the Wesleyan Chapel next door. The Stafford-Smiths welcome visitors to view the birds and to see an informative stall and display about swifts, with photos, swift boxes and leaflets. Refreshments available. Sat 10 July at 7.30pm Melbourne, Derbyshire. An evening walk (ca. 1 mile) watching and learning about the swifts that weave and scream over the town. Meet at the large square bus shelter in Melbourne Market Place (SK386251).
